Pictet is the deepest white space among the Swiss majors on the NRI question. Its Asian wealth franchise is explicitly oriented to Greater China and North Asia — its Hong Kong office (opened 1986) tailors Swiss wealth management 'to the needs of families and individuals in Greater China and North Asia', and its Asian office network (Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Osaka, Shanghai) contains no India location. No non-resident-Indian, Indian-diaspora, Global-Indian or South-Asia client segment or desk appears anywhere in its Asia positioning. Pictet does have a Dubai/DIFC presence, but it is Pictet Asset Management serving institutional clients across the wider 'MEASA' region — not a private-wealth NRI proposition. No dedicated NRI/global-Indian team was found in any 2023-2026 public reporting.
Why it matters
Pictet is the purest 'not competing' data point in the landscape. Its Asia wealth strategy is a Greater China and North Asia franchise; its only Gulf presence is institutional asset management; and across its office map and client language the words 'India' and 'NRI' simply do not appear. In a market where every Swiss and global peer is building or defending a named Global-Indian desk, Pictet's absence is not an oversight to caveat but a strategic choice to document — the boutique that sat out the fastest-growing offshore-wealth corridor of the decade.
The journey
Asia franchise is Greater China and North Asia — India and NRI coverage absent
Pictet's Asia page (fetched Aug 2026) describes its Hong Kong office (established 1986) as providing Swiss wealth management 'tailored to the needs of families and individuals in Greater China and North Asia', serving private clients, UHNW families and institutional investors. Its named Asian offices are Tokyo (1981), Hong Kong (1986), Singapore (1995), Taipei (2011), Osaka (2011) and Shanghai (2020) — no India location — and the page names no NRI, Indian-diaspora, Global-Indian or South-Asia segment or desk. India is absent from both the office network and the client targeting.
Pictet opens a DIFC office — but it is institutional asset management, not NRI wealth
Pictet Asset Management opened an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre, having operated in the UAE since 2007 serving institutional clients across the region (referenced as the 'MEASA' — Middle East, Africa and South Asian — region), managing US$159 billion in assets at the time. The Dubai presence is institutional asset management led by Francesco Genovese, Head of Middle East & Africa, Central Asia and Frontier Markets; it makes no mention of non-resident Indian or Indian-diaspora private-wealth clients.
